European settlers, colonizers, and conquerors relied heavily on Native American geographical knowledge in making their own maps. But, like the maps of medieval and early modern Europe, many Native American maps are more concerned with a religious worldview. Image Not Available Image Not Available Like a European T-O map, this Aztec map of the world is a symbolic representation, depicting the five parts of the world and the gods who live in them.
